The latest releases of two leading manufacturing software products widely used across the production engineering industry will be featured on the Planit stand at EMO – L31 in Hall 25.
Updates in Alphacam 2011 R2 include improved parallel and flat area 3D machining strategies for cutting solid models and surfaces. Benefits include reduced cutting time, improved surface finish, and an improved tool life.
Other new functionality includes: the Geometry Query Manager which means a user defined set of rules can be applied to a drawing to help automate toolpath generation; the Solid Model Extract Edge for Sawing which allows the creation of sawing geometry from a selected solid model planar face – automatically setting the correct tool side, orientation and depth of cut, giving faster toolpath generation, while ensuring it’s correct first time from the solid model. There are also improvements to the Work Plane Ordering function, along with Editable Spline and Polyline Toolpaths.
Also on show at EMO, is Edgecam 2011 R2, where improvements to its milling and tooling capabilities will be demonstrated. In addition, the software’s Solid Machinist, Simulator and Part Modeler functions also gain substantial upgrades. Project manager Paul Cross says: “Edgecam 2011 R2 includes something for all production engineers, from improvements to importing CAD data, through feature recognition, and into manufacture, where new cycles and options are available before full collision checking in Simulator.”
Edgecam is used by manufacturing companies for efficient and flexible manufacturing of simple 2-axis parts through to complex 5-axis components.
