Pressbrake, laser and waterjet cutting systems manufacturer, Bystronic’s new £1 million headquarters in Coventry will consolidate all of the company’s products and services under one roof bringing together the supply of machine tools and spares, the customer support hotline, machine demonstrations and training, the company reports.

A well-attended ceremony in March 2010 saw Bystronic’s CEO Ferdi Töngi and MTA president Bob Hunt officially open the new facility. Managing director of Bystronic UK, David Larcombe believes that having all services centrally located will greatly enhance customer service levels. “First class customer service is a top priority for Bystronic,” he declared.

“From our new centrally located Coventry headquarters we are much closer to our customers than previously when we operated from subsidiaries in Leeds and Chard in Somerset. I’m also happy to announce that nearly all employees – including field service engineers – were happy to relocate to Coventry so existing customer relationships will be preserved.”

The new premises occupy 2,200m² of floor space with 560m² dedicated to tooling and spares and 1,000m² for demonstration and training purposes. On show at all times are a wide assortment of systems from the company’s three product groups – laser cutting, waterjet cutting and bending, as well as a computer suite for training customers in the use of Bystronic’s Bysoft CAD/CAM software.

During the opening ceremony, Mr Larcombe also paid tribute not only to his staff in the UK, but also to senior management of Bystronic, Switzerland for investing in the future of the UK operation. In addition to the opening of the new premises, Bystronic UK had another reason to celebrate – namely the 100th birthday of engineering company FJ Edwards, which later became Edwards Pearson. In 2002 the company was taken over by Bystronic.
