An important new range of universal head 5-axis machining centres has been added to the metalcutting portfolio of 2D CNC Machinery that complements the Toyoda Mitsui Seiki and MAP ranges of machines by extending the company’s application capability of using premier league equipment in standalone machine, cell and systems engineering.
Says director David Holden: “The A- and B-axis universal head, rotary table design of the Swiss built Reiden machine range extends our solution providing capability in milling and boring with the flexibility provided by a multi-face approach to a component. The universal head combines the advantage of a horizontal and vertical machining centre with totally simultaneous and integrated operational techniques that provide the most viable production method for certain applications.”
The Reiden range of three different styles of machine has not been available in the UK before but has seen many applications in aerospace, mould and die and specialist machining operations throughout Europe.
The range comprises the RX10, RX18 launched at EMO in Hannover and BFR which has three variants the 22, 23 and 24. According to the machine type, working capacities are up to 4,000mm in X, 1,200mm in Y and 1,500mm in Z. Table loads can be up to 11 tonnes, spindle power up to 187kW with speeds up to 24,000rpm and a massive level of torque available up to 1,576Nm. All machines can be specified with either Heidenhain or Siemens controls.
