R E Thompson celebrates 75 years of precision engineering excellence

R E Thompson, a leading precision engineering company, is celebrating its 75th anniversary.

Since its founding in 1948, the company has consistently pushed the boundaries of innovation, investing in cutting-edge machines and equipment to meet evolving needs and establishing itself as a trusted partner in a wide range of industries from aerospace and automotive through to medical and defence.

R E Thompson has consistently invested in the latest machines – predominantly from DMG Mori, Okuma and Grob – and equipment such as automation for 24/7 production to stay ahead in the ever-evolving engineering industry. By utilising state-of-the-art technology, the company has been able to enhance its capabilities, optimise production processes, and deliver excellent results.

For example, its latest investment, a Grob G750T 5-axis mill/turn machining centre with gear cutting capability has a working surface area of 800mm x 800mm and a loading capacity of 1,000kg – ideal for the processing of large components.

Operating from two facilities in Hampshire, the business offers an extensive range of services including CNC machining, design, assembly, and laser marking. Also, through a trusted supplier network it can also provide a number of surface treatment options such as anodising and plating.

A £250,000+ material stockholding capability ensures work is turned around quickly. In addition, R E Thompson is a manufacturer that takes its environmental responsibilities seriously through the adoption of 99% recyclable packaging, energy efficient air compressors and swarf recycling.

“As we celebrate this anniversary, we reflect on our journey with pride and gratitude,” said Rachel Baker, marketing manager at R E Thompson. “Since our establishment, we have remained at the forefront of precision engineering, embracing technological advancements to provide our customers with the best solutions.

“Our success can be attributed to our dedicated team of professionals who consistently strive for excellence, along with our commitment to delivering exceptional precision and quality.”
