Represented in the UK by Lutterworth-based DF Precision Machinery, Okamoto will be presenting the new improved ACC-64CAiQ machine from the ACC-CAiQ range of heavy-duty precision surface grinders at the GrindingHub exhibition taking place in Stuttgart from 17-20 May.
The ACC-CAiQ range consists of five high-quality, cost-effective models ranging in table sizes from 600 x 400 to 1,000 x 600mm. With a capacity of 600 x 400mm the ACC-64CAiQ is one of the most popular size options.
The range’s easy to use touchscreen user interface has proven to be popular, not only in production situations, but also in the toolroom. The graphical interface makes machine setups much simpler and quicker – for example, optimal grinding conditions are automatically set simply by entering the wheel grit size.
The range’s new FANUC control now offers an even faster response, with a touchscreen sporting crisp, easy to read graphics.
Until now complex tasks in precision grinding depended very much on the skill of experienced operators. The development of the new Okamoto iQ touchscreen control and it’s easy to use software, coupled with the inherent mechanical accuracy of the moving column design, allows even unskilled operators to use the machine with maximum efficiency.
Also being exhibited is the timesaving Aerolap polishing machine which the manufacturer says can create mirror finishes in a fraction of the time taken by conventional means, making it ideal for use on precise components with critical forms and profiles as it does not alter their geometries. This advantage is made possible by the use of a special process and flexible media that deforms when applied at high pressure to components.
In addition to significant time savings, this special process also can increase tool life.
